Andrés Carrera

Director of Special Projects

As MOC’s Director of Special Projects, Andrés is actively involved in initiatives to improve the quality of life for all Montbello residents. He leads MOC’s Nonprofit Leadership Center, which provides critical fundraising, budgeting, and board development support to 501c3 organizations during a challenging environment for nonprofits. He is also leading the creation of five nonprofit grocery stores in low-income communities across Denver, with the first one scheduled to open in Montbello in 2026.

Andrés has been actively involved in politics across the Denver metro area since 2017. He was Denver Metro Regional Director for Senator John Hickenlooper, Deputy Director of Community Engagement for Governor Jared Polis and Political Director for Mayor Mike Johnston.

Fluent in both Spanish and Mandarin, Andrés lived and worked in Bejing, China for four years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in international studies from Colorado State University. In his free time, Andrés enjoys cooking, working out and traveling.
